The vision for Townsville’s Lansdown Eco-Industrial Precinct is no longer just plans on paper with construction across the 2,200-hectare site officially in full swing.
Townsville City Council says key milestones have already been ticked off. The major Flinders Highway upgrade at Woodstock-Giru Road is complete, crews are rolling out new internal roads at the Calcium precinct, and works are locked in to connect the site directly with DriveIt NQ.
The precinct — billed as northern Australia’s first sustainable industrial zone — is being designed as a hub for advanced manufacturing, renewables, and next-generation industries with the long-term project expected to transform the region’s economy and create thousands of jobs.
Townsville leaders say Lansdown will position the city at the forefront of clean energy and green industry. Townsville City Council saying progress includes:
- Completed: A Flinders Highway intersection upgrade at Woodstock-Giru Road.
- Underway: New internal roads at the Calcium precinct, including extensions and upgrades.
- Submitted: Development plans for three large-scale battery energy storage systems.
- Awarded: Works to build sealed road access to DriveIt NQ.
The precinct is billed as northern Australia’s first sustainable industrial hub and will host advanced manufacturing, renewable energy projects and new industries over the coming decades.
