A warning for Townsville locals to be careful around flooded rivers after a second large estuarine crocodile was captured in Townsville, within the last 3 weeks.

Both crocodiles were found near an unfenced turf farm in Bohle River, with Wildlife Rangers from the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) saying given their size and location, they had to be removed.

Senior Wildlife Ranger Tony Frisby is urging locals to be extra vigilant.

“We have now successfully captured two large crocodiles in the same location within three weeks of each other,” Mr Frisby said.

“It is essential that people in the surrounding area are aware of the potential presence of crocodiles and to priorities their safety.”

Crocodile sightings can be reported using the QWildlife app, the departments website, or by calling 1300 130 372.
