'Live Fire' Exercise In Townsville

A 'live fire' exercise is currently being carried out in Townsville.
The 2nd Calvary Regiment, as part of Exercise Eagle Walk and concurrent to Exercise Brolga Walk, will conduct a live fire demonstration including mobile and static firing from their armoured vehicles on Friday.
There will be mobile and static firing from the Regiment’s armoured fleet including the M1A1 Main Battle Tank.
Exercise Brolga Walk is a demanding and realistic set of training activities designed to test and build the scalable Combined Arms Teams within the 3rd Brigade.
The activity has been running at the Townsville Field Training Area since May 7 and will wrap up on May 20.
The exercise incorporates all elements and capabilities of the Brigade coming together in small and medium teams.
The activity has run concurrent to and provided training effects for Exercise Eagle Walk – the 2nd Cavalry Regiment’s Armoured Vehicle Live Fire Activity, Exercise Temple Jade – The 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment’s hosting of the Royal Thai Army, Exercise Logi Tura and Exercise Kumel Exchange – The integration of PNGDF members and elements of the final training of the First Class of the Royal Military College – Duntroon in preparation for their graduation as officers into the Australian Army.
