Around 200 early voting centres have prepared to open their doors to Queensland voters this week.

Pre-polling begins Monday October 19 ahead of the official election date on the 31st.

Voters in Townsville can head to the polls early at the Vincent Marketplace on Fulham Road or the Thuringowa Office on Woodman Court, West End.

Electoral Commission of Queensland's Wade Lewis said they are expecting a big turn out of early votes in the wake of the pandemic.

"We've got more early voting centres for that reason, we're also opening them for longer than we have before," Mr Lewis said.

"The usual sort of things that we're all getting used to now will apply, people will need to stay 1.5 metres apart, we'll have a lot of hand sanitiser at our facilities as well."
