Townsville is set to see a boost in mental health services for new and expectant mothers.
The Queensland Government is delivering eight perinatal mental health beds in Townsville, with another 22 to be delivered across the state.
The funding comes during Perinatal Mental Health Week, and will also see more than $7 million towards expanded mental health and psychosocial support services.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls says it comes at a time when Queensland mothers need support most.
“We know how incredibly important, and sometimes challenging, this period can be for mums and bubs, which is why we committed to delivering these 30 beds as quickly as possible to help restore health services when Queenslanders need them most,” he says.
