Bluewater State School was crowned as Star106.3’s School of the Year! Wrapping up the competition which saw Townsville nominate and vote for their favourite school.

Crystal and Anthony visited schools all over the region, meeting pupils and staff to understand what makes each school special. To enter the competition, schools were asked to share what they would spend the $10,000 prize money on if they won.

After an influx of amazing entries, the panel of judges narrowed it down to the five finalists, Marian Catholic School, St Anthony’s Catholic College, Magnetic Island State School, Bluewater State School and Belgian Gardens State School.

Our winner was chosen from a combination of public votes, school involvement and creativity of their intended spending of prize money. Crystal and Anthony drove out to Bluewater to surprise students and teachers with their cheque thanks to Mike Carney Mahindra.

Massive congratulations to our Star106.3 School of the Year Bluewater State School! It was incredible to see the community support our winner and we can’t wait to visit them again to see how they’ve spent their prize money!!
