Townsville police have made a string of arrests in a major crackdown on property crime, seizing drugs, firearms and stolen vehicles.

Tactical Crime Squad officers intercepted a vehicle on Woolcock Street, West End, uncovering more than 15 grams of meth, two modified firearms, ammunition and a large knife. A 27-year-old Blackwater man and a 25-year-old woman were charged with multiple drug and weapons offences and will face Townsville Magistrates Court in October.

In a separate incident, a 32-year-old Pimlico man and a 34-year-old Kirwan woman were arrested in Aitkenvale after allegedly stealing a Volkswagen. Police Dog Squad tracked the pair, who now face unlawful use of a motor vehicle charges.

Police say the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to keep repeat offenders off the streets and ensure community safety.
