Man and woman charged after getting bogged in alleged stolen car at Wulguru

A man and a woman have been arrested after allegedly stealing a car from Aitkenvale.

They were allegedly seen fleeing the scene after a stolen Honda Sedan became bogged at a Wulguru property around midday yesterday.

Police were called to the location and the 20-year-old woman was arrested nearby.

Around two hours later officers attended a Stewart Drive address where they found the 24-year-old man in the ceiling.

He then allegedly fled on foot, before he climbed to the roof of a nearby building and threw broken glass down at officers.

Police negotiators responded and at around 8.20pm, the man came down from the roof and was taken into custody.

No one was seriously injured as a result of the incident.

The 24-year-old Thuringowa Central man has been charged with four counts of serious assault police officer, three counts of enter dwelling and commit and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He has been denied police bail and is expected to appear at Townsville Magistrates Court today, February 26.

The 20-year-old Hermit Park woman has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is expected to appear at Townsville Magistrates today, February 26.
