A new family support hub has opened its doors in Townsville, offering a lifeline to parents and children facing serious challenges.
Child protection organisation Act for Kids has launched the centre in Belgian Gardens to help families dealing with issues such as domestic violence, mental health struggles, housing stress and substance abuse.
The demand is clear as last year alone Act for Kids supported more than 2,000 people across the region, responding to hundreds of requests for help.
The new centre will deliver two key programs, Intensive Family Support and Functional Family Therapy, with funding from the Department of Child Safety.
Its reach will extend well beyond Townsville, with families from Ingham to the Burdekin and west to Hughenden able to access services.
