Police are investigating whether three early‑morning incidents across Townsville are connected, after a fire, a shooting and a vehicle blaze were reported within half an hour of each other on Monday.

Emergency crews were first called just after 4am to a commercial complex at the corner of Bayswater Road and Illuka Street in Currajong, where a fire damaged several businesses. Shops affected include Muse Hair Collective, Digital Matrix Computers and Gym n Juice, with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services bringing the blaze under control around 5.40am. The building sustained structural damage, though no injuries were reported.

Minutes later, police responded to reports of shots fired into the 1 Million Strong gym on Woolcock Street at Mount Louisa. A crime scene was established, and people arriving to use the gym were turned away while investigations continued.

At around 4.30am, officers were called to a third incident – a vehicle found burning at Black River.

Detectives are examining whether the three scenes are linked and are appealing for anyone with dashcam, CCTV or information to come forward.
