A chaotic stolen‑car incident at Castle Hill has ended with two people charged and a local resident taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the drama unfolded just after 7am on Monday, when three stolen vehicles — a red Kia Cerato, a blue Volkswagen Amarok and a white Audi RS E‑Tron — were spotted on Gilbert Crescent. The group allegedly tried to break into several homes before getting inside one property and accessing the Audi.
As the offenders tried to leave, a 53‑year‑old man arrived home in his Mini Cooper and attempted to block the Audi from escaping. Police say the offenders rammed his car, pushing it out of the way before speeding off.
The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Townsville University Hospital.
Police tracked the alleged offenders down soon after and made two arrests.
An 18‑year‑old Rasmussen woman and a 16‑year‑old Wulguru boy have both been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. The woman has already faced the Townsville Magistrates Court, while the boy is due to appear in the Townsville Children’s Court on May 15. Both have been remanded in custody.
