Townsville CBD antisocial behaviour remains a key focus

Antisocial behaviour in Townsville’s CBD is back under the spotlight, with the state government hosting its second community forum in just two months.

Locals and business owners voiced concerns over the impacts of crime and disorder in the city centre, prompting authorities to ramp up action. High-visibility police patrols have been increased across the CBD, aiming to deter unwanted activity and reassure residents and business owners.

A new cross-government taskforce is also being established to tackle the issue long-term. The group will focus on offenders’ underlying challenges, including mental health and housing, while developing a comprehensive blueprint for future solutions.
