Townsville police charge 75 offenders in four days

Townsville police have charged 75 people with more than 250 offences in just four days, as part of a major crackdown on property crime across the district.

Since August 9, a total of 162 people — including 34 juveniles — have faced 636 charges ranging from burglary and car theft to domestic violence and bail breaches.

Officers have also conducted nearly 300 bail checks, more than 1,700 roadside breath tests, and intercepted 51 drink and drug drivers.

Among those charged was a 12-year-old Condon boy, accused of six break-ins and multiple other offences including vehicle theft and wilful damage. He has been remanded in custody.

A 16-year-old Belgian Gardens boy was also charged over a Rosslea burglary, while a 32-year-old Townsville man was arrested for several domestic violence offences.
