The community has paid their tributes, following the death on an 85-year-old Bushland Beach woman after she was struck by a waste ruck on Daintree drive and died yesterday morning.
Townsville City Council CEO Joe McCabe says their thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those impacted.
“Safety is Council’s number one priority – for our staff, our contractors and for the broader community. Council is cooperating fully with the investigations currently being undertaken by Queensland Police Service and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
“Out of respect for those involved and due to the ongoing investigations, Council will not be making further comment at this time.” he said.
An investigation by the Forensic Crash Unit and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is underway.
Council says all bin collections scheduled yesterday, will be collected on Saturday. Today’s rubbish collections will go ahead as usual.
