Hold your horses! This story is straight out of a Bruce Willis movie, but it’s actually real! TMZ even has the audio to prove it!

A cargo plane flying to Europe has to make an emergency landing in New York City because a horse decided to go for a stroll in the cargo hold. Who can blame the horse for wanting to stretch its legs on a long flight? But apparently, it caused some issues.

After some quick action by a vet, the flight finally made it from NYC to Belgium. Giddy-up!

The air traffic control audio reveals that this daring horse escape happened just 30 minutes after take-off. The Boeing 747 was barely in the sky when the pilot had to radio in and say, “We are a cargo plane with a live animal, a horse, on board. The horse managed to escape its stall. There’s no issue with flying, but we need to go back to New York as we can’t resecure the horse.”

During the return journey, the flight had to lighten its load by dumping about 20 tons of fuel over the Atlantic.

It’s still a mystery as to how the horse managed to escape.

In the end, the flight managed to take off again and safely land in Liege Airport. Air Atlanta Icelandic, the charter airline in charge of this unforgettable flight, hasn’t commented yet. Maybe they’re too busy fitting horse stalls with seatbelts.
