A new trailer has dropped for the dystopian horror film The Long Walk, directed by Francis Lawrence, best known for his work on The Hunger Games. Lionsgate recently showcased 22 minutes of footage at San Diego Comic-Con, building excitement ahead of the movie’s release.

Based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel The Long Walk, written under his pseudonym Richard Bachman, the story is a chilling political allegory often linked to the Vietnam War. Set in a dystopian future America, the plot focuses on a brutal, annual walking contest where 100 teenage boys must maintain a speed of over 3 miles per hour. Falling below that speed three times within an hour results in being shot. The stakes are high: the last one standing wins the ultimate prize, anything they desire for the rest of their life.

The film centers on 16-year-old Raymond Garraty and the diverse group of walkers he encounters, ranging from allies to enemies. The cast includes rising stars Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson, alongside veteran actors Mark Hamill and Judy Greer.
