Crime scene declared in Mount Louisa after woman shot

Police have launched an investigation after a woman was shot during an incident at a home in Mount Louisa.

Emergency services were called to Rundle Street around 6.45am yesterday, following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found a 28‑year‑old woman with a gunshot wound to her leg. She was treated at the scene before being taken to Townsville University Hospital, where she’s being treated for non‑life‑threatening injuries.

According to early investigations, the offender went to the home and became involved in an altercation with the woman before the shooting occurred. The offender fled before police arrived.

Police say the people involved are known to each other and there is no ongoing threat to the wider community.

A crime scene has been declared as detectives continue to piece together what happened. Officers are now calling on the public for help, asking anyone with CCTV, dashcam footage or information from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
