A serious traffic crash at Bloomsbury has left a 14‑year‑old boy fighting for life, with the Forensic Crash Unit now leading the investigation.
Emergency services were called to Lindeman Drive on Saturday afternoon after reports of a collision between a KTM motorbike and a white Toyota Hiace travelling in opposite directions.
Police say the impact occurred around 2.30pm, leaving the young rider with life‑threatening injuries. He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition, where he remains on life support.
The driver of the Hiace, a 42‑year‑old Bloomsbury woman, was not physically injured.
Investigators are now working to piece together the moments leading up to the crash and are appealing for public assistance. Anyone who may have seen the motorbike or vehicle in the area before the collision is urged to contact police.
The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine the cause of the crash
