Queensland has officially hit the six‑year countdown to the Olympic and Paralympic Games Brisbane 2032 — and Townsville is getting ready for its moment on the world stage.

While celebrations roll out across the state on 23 July, including free sports sessions on the Gold Coast and a special milestone reveal in Brisbane, the North is focused on what comes next.

Townsville is locked in to host Olympic sailing and football, and Council is pushing ahead with plans for major upgrades to key venues: Murray Sporting Complex, Riverway Stadium and the Townsville Aquatic Precinct, along with a proposal for a new arena.
