The woman passed away that same day, while the man succumbed to his injuries in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital on Monday night.

Detectives from Ayr Criminal Investigation Branch, Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch and the Homicide Unit established Operation Uniform Turmeric to complete the initial investigation into the fatal house fire.

Investigators from Ethical Standards Command will complete a report for the coroner into the deaths of the 47-year-old woman and 65-year-old man.

Police attending the home for a welfare check hours before the blaze, where all parties were spoken to by officers, will form part of the investigation.
