Ayr house fire leaves three people in hospital

UPDATE: 3PM – TWO PEOPLE CRITICAL AFTER HOUSE FIRE, CRIME SCENE DECLARED

Two people remain in a critical condition with serious burns after a fire ripped through a house at Ayr.

A crime scene has been declared and police investigations are underway into the cause of the blaze.

Police says around 5.40am, emergency services were called to a blaze at an address on Home Hill Road.

A woman and man were found injured at the home.

They were rushed to Ayr Hospital in a critical condition and were later airlifted to Townsville University Hospital.

The 47-year-old woman and 65-year-old man, both from Ayr, remain in a critical condition.

A man aged in his 20s was also taken to Ayr Hospital with smoke inhalation.

Police had attended the residence earlier that morning around 2.15am to conduct a welfare check.

The parties involved were all spoken to before officers left.

The Bruce Highway was closed for several hours at Rossiters Hill, with diversions in place.

Two people are fighting for life after a fire tore through an Ayr home this morning.

The blaze started just after 5:30am, with emergency services called to the Home Hill Road address.

A woman and a man in his 60s both suffered burns, and have been taken to Ayr Hospital in critical conditions.

Another man, in his 20s, is in a stable condition.
