The Queensland Police Ethical Standards Command is investigating a fatal e-scooter crash at Townsville City.
The incident occurred on Denham Street near the Walker Street intersection around 3.30pm on Thursday.
Officers say a 35-year-old Townsville City man on the e-scooter attempted to speed away when he saw a marked police vehicle.
The e-scooter then hit the gutter, and the rider fell to the ground sustaining life-threatening injuries.
Police immediately rendered medical assistance and emergency services attended.
The rider was transported to Townsville University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased on Friday.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident on behalf of the State Coroner, and the investigation is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
