Detectives from Townsville’s Criminal Investigation Branch have extradited a 32‑year‑old Townsville man from Western Australia after he was found on a yacht allegedly attempting to leave the country.
WA Police intercepted the luxury vessel 53 kilometres off Exmouth on Monday morning, with three people on board reportedly headed for Indonesia. The WA Joint Organised Crime Taskforce arrested the man, who police allege is linked to an outlaw motorcycle gang.
Queensland Police successfully applied to have him extradited on a return‑to‑prison warrant and a drug‑trafficking arrest warrant. He is also wanted for questioning over several serious offences.
The man is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, facing charges including trafficking dangerous drugs, assault occasioning bodily harm, two counts of unlicensed driving and evade police.
