Queensland Police are investigating an alleged assault on Magnetic Island over the weekend, with witnesses claiming one of the men involved was Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto.
Officers say an altercation between a 42‑year‑old man and a 28‑year‑old man occurred at a Nelly Bay Road business on Sunday. Police confirmed no charges have been laid at this stage, and the investigation remains ongoing.
According to the Townsville Bulletin, multiple witnesses have claimed the mayor was involved in the incident. Mayor Dametto has denied the allegations.
